Happy 7th Birthday

Tomorrow is my youngest daughter’s birthday.  She’s turning 7.

For my kids’ birthdays I have a few traditions.  After they go to bed the night before, I take streamers and balloons and full on decorate their bedroom and our dining and living room.  And I ALWAYS write out their number using streamers.  It’s one of those traditions that I’ve lost track of when it started and yet heaven forbid I should skip a year.

My other tradition is they get a special birthday card.  I try to coordinate it to their personality or what they’re into.

For my soon to be 7-year-old, cards are especially important.  Whenever she sleeps over at her Nana and Papa’s house, she always packs all of her handmade cards she’s received over the years (from me and from others) and brings them with her.  One time I asked her why and she said, I like to read them.

So, my friend, don’t forget the little ones in your life.  Cards are a big deal for them!

My 7-year-old loves all things pretty and she’s been like this from day one.  She loves fashion and shoes (man, does she love shoes).  And yes, she’s 7!  So I wanted her card to be just that…pretty.

My card starts off with Blushing Bride cardstock.  I took a pattern from the Falling In Love DSP and layered it over some Very Vanilla cardstock.  I cut out the 7 and “th” using the Number of Years stamp set and coordinating Large Number Framelits.

I stamped the Happy Birthday in Blushing Bride from the Sunshine Sayings stamp set.  I added a little comma using a Blushing Bride marker.  I used a few Sending Love embellishments next to the number.

I then made a bow using Blushing Bride 3/8″ satin ribbon.  I wound around some Silver Thread underneath it before adhering it to the card.

Enjoy!

  3. This is so sweet Jaimie. The birthday traditions you have created for your children put a tear in my eye. I’m 48 and my mom wakes me up at 5 am every year for my birthday…it’s a memory I will have the rest of my life. Your daughter is so cute and I know she’s going to love her special card just as much as I love it! Thank you so much for showing us your beautiful talent at the Stamp Ink Paper challenge.
