Thank You Card with NEW In-Colors

As you might’ve read in an earlier post, I was in Peru this past week with my husband and two other couples.  We were there scouting out the possibility of bringing a missions team from our church.

My husband is from Peru and we lived there for a little over three years (pre-kids) doing work with a local church.  I always love going back.  It’s refreshing and always brings me peace.

I didn’t take many pictures, but here are a few…

On our way, readying ourselves for a 10 hr travel time.

The ministry we were going down to meet is called Hearts in Action and they’re doing a fabulous work in a poor area called Cieneguilla.

Cieneguille is a county which by definition is poor, but even within itself the level of poverty varies. Some towns had running water and electricity. Other homes were just little shacks barely held together.

The main plaza cathedral in Lima, Peru.

The cathedral holds a tomb with the great conquistador Pizarro’s remains.

The coast of Lima Peru.  What you don’t see is that although it is right on the coast, Lima is desert land.  This is because of a cold current of water flowing from the Artic.

Peru is known for its culinary cuisine.  There is nothing like it in the world!  For lunch, I had Choros a la Chalaca – hmmmm!!!

Blurry, but you get the idea.  Traffic is horrific and drivers make NYC taxi drivers look like amateurs.

Lastly, a little shopping for some souvenirs for friends and family.

Now on to my card (and yes, it ties into my travels).

While we were away my parents held down the fort with our three children (10, 9, 7).  My parents help us out time and time again and the least I can do is send a thank you card…

My card today starts with the NEW Tranquil Tide cardstock.  I took regular copy paper and cut out a square using the Layering Square Framelits.  I placed the copy paper with the square cut out of it over a panel of Whisper White cardstock.  I then took the Brayer and rolled over the square hole in Lemon Lime Twist ink.  I matted it on some Pool Party cardstock and adhered it to the card.

I used the One Big Meaning stamp set and stamped the sentiment in Tranquil Tide ink in the box.  I took the Flourishing Phrases stamp set and stamped the leaves in the bottom left hand corner in Tranquil Tide ink.

I stamped the flower (from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set) in Pool Party ink, fussy cut it out, and adhered it using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I added a few Rhinestones in the opposite corner.

Enjoy!

Today’s card was inspired by the challenges over at Freshly Made Sketches and Sunday Stamps.

So, thanks for the wonderful idea. I agree with Barb–I bet the grandparents were happy to have the kids for a while!
