Stampin’ Up! Happy Birthday

Today’s card was inspired by the tic-tac-toe challenge at The Paper Players this week.  I went straight across the top.

My card today starts off with Pear Pizzazz cardstock.  I then took a pattern from the A Whole Lot of Lovely DSP and matted it on Basic Black cardstock.  I took another pattern and cut a 2′ strip and the end in a banner.

I used the Stitched Framelits to create a background to the diecut Happy Birthday.  I cut circles out in Whisper White, Powder Pink, Pool Party, and Basic Black.  I used the Balloon Adventures stamp set to create the stamped sentiments on two of the circles.  I used the washi tape technique so as to be able to break up the sentiment.  I stamped the first part in Memento Black ink and the second one in Versamark ink which I sprinkled with White Embossing Powder and heat embossed.

I cut out two birthdays, one in Whisper White and one in Pear Pizzazz.  I cut off the “happy” part of it and layered one over the other.  I wrapped around some Pool Party Baker’s Twine to finish it off.

Enjoy!

  1. I like the DSP you’ve chosen to combine and I love the clever way you’ve done the sentiment. The layering is great – it enhances the design without cluttering it. Really lovely! Thanks for joining us at The Paper Players this week.

  2. Jaimie, I’m slow this week but always check your creations and had to say how much I lOVE this card! You are so creative to split that big sentiment this way and use the die cut birthday in there! Your colors are so striking too. Just a beautiful card. I hope I can CASE it!–not sure what I’d change though!
