This week’s Global Design Project challenge is really fun. Each designer has created a new card and we can choose which designer we’d like to CASE (copy and selectively edit). I’ve chosen Jessica Williams.
I was immediately intrigued by her card. It didn’t have a lot of bells and whistles, but it’s clean design was so pretty and I loved the bright colors.
My card starts off with Bermuda Bay cardstock. I first took a panel of Whisper White cardstock and used the Embossing Paste to create my colored background. I mixed some paste with Melon Mambo ink and some with Bermuda Bay ink and then spread them across the diamond patterned mask. I matted the Whisper White on a piece of Vellum cardstock and adhered it to my card.
Next I used the Detailed Dragonfly thinlits to cut out a dragonfly using the Copper cardstock.
Next I stamped the sentiment from the Thankful Thoughts stamp set on Vellum cardstock in Versamark ink, sprinkled it with copper embossing powder, and heat embossed it. I unraveled some Solid Whisper White Baker’s Twine and wound one of the strands behind the sentiment. I also wound around some Copper Thread behind it.
Interesting discovery, vellum is usually hard to adhere to cards because you can see the adhesive through the paper. However, this time I adhered it with Tape & Tear adhesive and I noticed you could barely see it!
