Stampin’ Up! Christmas Happiness

This week’s Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop is a color challenge.  Happy hopping!

Not going to lie, this color combination had me a bit stumped.  Garden Green and Real Red, no problem, got it, but the Lemon Lime Twist!?

So I took some liberty here.  I’m thinking if yellow Christmas lights shone against green pines, maybe they would look a bit “limey”?!?!  Maybe?!

My card starts off with Real Red cardstock.  I then took a panel of Whisper White cardstock which eventually will be matted on Garden Green cardstock.  I took the Christmas Happiness stamp set and stamped the pine needles along the top of the Whisper White panel in Garden Green ink.  I then took a sponge and colored the edges with Garden Green ink, as well as sponged the top around the pine needles.

Next I stamped the outside of the lights in Memento Black around the pine needles and stamped the bottom of the lights in Real Red ink and the lights in Lemon Lime Twist ink.

So you might be looking at my Baker’s Twine and thinking – there’s no (at least current) Garden Green Baker’s Twine and I’d say you’re correct.  I made my own 🙂

I took a sandwich sized zipper baggie and put a cut piece of Whisper White Baker’s Twine in it.  I then squirted a few drops of Garden Green reinker in it.  I then sort of rubbed the outside of the bag so the twine was getting covered in the ink.  I added more ink until I had it covered enough.  In hindsight, I think I would’ve used the thinner Very Vanilla Baker’s Twine, but at this point I wasn’t even sure this was going to work.

I took the twine out and let it dry on a paper towel.  I then cut and placed very, very small pieces of Tear & Tape adhesive in the spots where I wanted the twine to loop and connect to the lights.

Lastly I stamped the sentiment in Versamark ink on Real Red cardstock, sprinkled it with White Embossing Powder, and heat embossed it.  I cut the end in a banner and added a little Gold Doily underneath.

Enjoy!
