This week’s Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop is a color challenge. Happy hopping!
I needed to make a few gift certificates, but I wanted to make the actual gift certificate a gift in and of itself.
I also wanted to try a new card design and my hand at calligraphy…Voila…
My card holder starts off with Real Red cardstock. I scored it at 5-1/2″ and then cut t a diagonal from the inside corner to 2-1/4″ up from the outside. I used Tear & Tape adhesive to seal my bottom and right edge.
I cut a pattern from the Quilted Christmas DSP and adhered it inside the card holder. Next I stamped the sentiment from the Watercolor Christmas in Versamark ink on the outside of the card after wiping it with the embossing buddy, sprinkled it with white embossing powder, and heat set it. I used the Christmas Stockings Thinlits to add a few Garden Green holly leaves and Gold Foil berries around it.
Now…for the gift certificate. I took a panel of Garden Green cardstock and cut the top of it using the Scalloped Tag Topper (see my Instagram posts to see exactly how I did that). I then matted on the one side the same pattern from the Quilted Christmas DSP and used the Christmas Stockings Thinlits again to add some detail to the corner.
On the opposite side I handwrote the words using a Garden Green write marker. I’m becoming very fascinated with calligraphy, something I originally learned in high school, but calligraphy has really come so far. I think I want to continue to work at it, but not bad for the first time. I added a piece of Garden Green ribbon to the tag topper and wrapped around two bows (so both sides had a bow) in Linen Thread.
Enjoy!

That is awesome Jaimie! What a fantastic gift certificate holder, love the pullout tab. Pretty calligraphy too! 🙂
This is just wonderful, Jaimie – and timely! I need to CASE – wish I had your wonderful talent with the calligraphy!! 🙂
I agree with Mary, I need you to teach me your calligraphy skills, this is awesome! What a cool idea, just beautiful! 🙂
I took calligraphy classes too but my skills are not as refined as yours! What a creative design too. I can’t believe the person receiving would be delighted.
Lovely idea and well executed. I don’t do calligraphy! My handwriting is TERRIBLE! Thankfully, if I REALLY need some calligraphy, my sis is very good at it. (Where there’s a will, there’s a way)
Oh my gosh! Adorable and your writing is outstanding too. Love everything about this card Jaimie.
