Stampin’ Up! – Sympathy Card – PP388

This week’s Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop is a sketch challenge.  Happy hopping!

I was really inspired by the colors (see the challenge below) to make a sympathy card.  These are my least favorite kind of cards to make because you know that if/when you have to mail them, it’s because someone is grieving.

Yet, it’s a way to show your love and support for them and hopefully lift their spirits, even just for a moment.

My card starts off with Wisteria Wonder cardstock.  I then took a panel of Whisper Wonder cardstock which I embossed using the flower Petal Pair embossing folder.  I then matted it on Elegant Eggplant cardstock and adhered it to the card.

Next I stamped the sentiment from the Flourishing Phrases Stamp Set in Versamark ink on Elegant Eggplant cardstock, sprinkled it with white embossing powder, and heat set it.  I cut it out and the scalloped Wister Wonder circle behind it using the Layering Circles Framelits.

Behind the sentiment I snuck in a die cut leaf from the Petals & More Thinlits using Tranquil Tide cardstock.  I also stamped the flower image from the Petals Palette Stamp Set on some Vellum paper in Versamark ink, sprinkled it with white embossing powder it, and heat set it.  I cut it out using the same Petals & More Thinlits.  Finally I added a banner from the Fresh Florals DSP behind it all.  I adhered everything down using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Enjoy!

Today’s card was inspired by this week’s The Paper Players challenge.

  2. I know that it is sad when we have to make sympathy cards, but this one is sure to comfort the recipient! Love the white embossing and the little details behind the sentiment…very nicely done! Thanks for playing with my Paper Players challenge this week!

  3. Jamie I’m sure your beautiful card, whilst difficult to make, will be well received. I love the sentiment on the bold purple circle and that embossed strip, with a few additional sprigs of decoration. Beautifully balanced. Thanks for sharing with us over at The Paper Players this week!
