Big Changes Coming to Stampin’ Up!

Change is hard.
I have to admit I’m not a fan of change.

But sometimes change is necessary for the long-term betterment of something.

Today demonstrators got word of some changes that will be coming beginning with the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog.  Let me break them down for you…

Stampin’ Trimmer Discontinuation

As of the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog, the Stampin’ Trimmer will be discontinued.  This includes all accessories—replacement cutting blades, scoring blades, and cutting mats.

Stampin’ Up! has had challenges with the supplier in the past and are taking advantage of this to seek out an alternate product which also solves some of the issues the trimmer has had.  As of right now a replacement cutter has not been finalized and there isn’t an expected timeframe for when one will be available.

So here’s the deal…
You need to stock up on blades and other accessories!

Stampin’ Up! has ordered what would normally be six months of inventory based on recent historical patterns to help customers during this transition away from their current trimmer. But please know that this news could cause faster inventory depletion.

    • When the retiring list goes live on April 15, the order limit for the blades will increase from three to six (and the limit will remain at six until they’re no longer available).
    • From now until September, intermittent shipments of blades will be received from the supplier. Throughout these months, Stampin’ Up! anticipates times when the blades will not be orderable (and not offered as a backorder). During those downtimes, you will have the option to enter an email address to receive notification when the blades are available again.

TRANSITION TO NEW DIE-CUTTING AND EMBOSSING LINE

Stampin’ Up! has just announced that they’ll be transitioning to a new manufacturer for their dies and embossing folders moving forward!

What does this mean?
As of the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog, the Big Shot will no longer be available.  Dies and embossing folders that are NOT retiring from current catalogs, will continue to be offered in the new Annual Catalog, as well as any new dies and embossing folders.

The Big Shot will work with dies and embossing folders that will be carrying over into the Annual Catalog, but some may require a shimmy, as the new dies are slightly thinner.

Because there is a new manufacturer, the new dies introduced in the Annual Catalog will look and feel a little different, but still be of high quality.

With our old dies, there was always a slight white edge around the stamped image:

Now the dies will have a tight outline snug up to the stamped image:

Also:

  • They’ve improved the adhesive that secures the dies to the insert sheet in the package so that it’s not too sticky. It’s easier to remove dies from the insert sheet, and the adhesive won’t cling to the dies.  (1,000 Yay’s for this update!!)
  • They’ve standardized the size of the die inserts for easier storage. There are now only two insert sizes: 5″ x 7″ (12.7 x 17.8 cm), which coordinate in size with the stamp cases, and 6″ x 6″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm). The standard sizes will allow uniform storage in whatever system you use. The envelopes that the dies come in will be slightly larger.
  • With old-style Dynamic folders, they recommended that you spritz cardstock before embossing to soften the fibers so you got a better impression. Now, that extra step will not be necessary because the new-style folders usually create a crisp impression without spritzing. The way the new folders are manufactured also gives options for more detailed and intricate designs in the future.
  • 3D folders are thinner than the old-style Dynamic folders. Because they are thinner, you will need to use a shim, depending on the die-cutting & embossing machine you use.

Stampin’ Up! has provided a Q&A sheet that will help answer all your questions.  You can see it here.

Price Increases in the 2019-2020 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog

Stampin’ Up! will also be doing so pricing changes in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog. Here is the note that they’ve posted and you can find a link to the new price list below:

We regularly review our pricing, taking into account the cost of doing business, global exchange rates, increased supplier costs, and market comparisons. When it comes to making changes, we are conservative and put off price increases for as long as we can because we know they impact demonstrators and their customers.

Stampin’ Up! Flourishing Phrases Just a Note

This week’s Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop is a sketch challenge.  Happy hopping!

My card starts off with Gorgeous Grape cardstock.  I then matted a panel of Whisper White cardstock on Soft Sea Foam cardstock.

I used the Flourish Thinlits to cut out various flowers and leaves from Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather, Petal Pink, and Soft Sea Foam cardstock.

I used the Stitched Shapes Framelits to cut out a stitched circle from Highland Heather cardstock.  I stamped the sentiment from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set in Versamark ink, sprinkled it with white embossing powder, and heat set it.

Behind the sentiment I adhered a pattern from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper and wound around some Silver Thread and then adhered it all down using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I also added a few pearls around the card to finish it off.

Enjoy!

Stampin’ Up! Tropical Chic – FMS378

For today’s card I’m using a set I haven’t picked up in a while.  It’s the Tropical Chic Bundle.

The bundle mixed with the Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper is so tropical and makes me dream of hot days on the beach with a fun drink.

My card starts off with Blushing Bride cardstock.  I then matted a panel of Whisper White cardstock on Shaded Spruce cardstock.

I then adhered a pattern from the Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper to the card front.

I used the Tropical Thinlits Dies to cut out three leaves from Soft Sea Foam, Granny Apple Green, and Shaded Spruce cardstock. I cut Mini Dimensionals in half in order to adhere down the middle one.

Lastly I stamped the sentiment in Versamark ink, sprinkled it with White Embossing Powder, and heat set it.  I adhered it down using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Enjoy!

Stampin’ Up! Swirly Frames Card

This week’s Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop is a color challenge.  Happy hopping!

I have had the concept for today’s card in my head since I bought the Swirly Frames Stamp Set back in June.  I was so happy to finally put it together.

My card starts off with Night of Navy cardstock.  I then rubbed it with the Embossing Buddy to get all the static off.  I stamped the large and small circle from the Swirly Frames Stamp Set multiple times in Versamark ink.  I sprinkled it with White Embossing Powder and heat set it.

I then stamped the daisy from the Daisy Delight Stamp Set in Balmy Blue ink and the center in Night of Navy ink.  I cut them out using the Daisy Punch.

Next I stamped the sentiment from the Another Wonderful Year Stamp Set in Night of Navy ink and matted it on Balmy Blue cardstock, adhering it down with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Enjoy!
