Today’s card was inspired by the sketch challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches.
I recently purchased the Warmth & Cheer DSP and it has immediately become my favorite paper to use (you’ll see it a couple of times this week). I love each pattern. They make me feel warm and cozy, like I should be drinking hot cocoa when using them.
My card uses the Delightful Dijon as a base and then one of the cozy patterns from the Warmth & Cheer DSP over it. I took another pattern (this one Whisper White and Delightful Dijon) to layer over it and then a strip of Garden Green.
I created the layering in the middle using the Santa’s Sleigh stamp set which I stamped the deer stamp in Versamark and then heat embossed it in white on Basic Black to make it really pop! The deer got cut using the Laying Circles and was adhered over scalloped Delightful Dijon cardstock and then that over a Delicate Doily.
To finish off the card, I heat embossed in white over Garden Green the sentiment, also from the Santa’s Sleigh stamp set.

My card starts with a base of Smoky Slate. I left it there and decided to keep a clean, crisp card.
Before I adhered the sentiment detail, I layered it over some Peekaboo Peach cardstock and snuck in behind it some Black Thick Baker’s Twine.

For my take on the sketch, I started with a base of Night of Navy. I then layered a pattern from the Affectionately Yours DSP over some Sahara Sand. I then placed some Night of Navy ribbon across the top-ish (yes, that’s a technical term) of the card to act as the “divide.” Next I cut a 1/2″ Sahara Sand strip of cardstock and 1/4″ Night of Navy strip of cardstock and layered them over some Mint Macaron cardstock to be my rectangular focus (yes, another technical term).
Between yesterday’s card and today’s card, I’m really trying to set up my card differently than my usual way. Usually I start with a base card and layer another color over that on, etc.
For the shape, I cut out two “nests” from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits, one in Sahara Sand and the other in Night of Navy. I then fussy cut the bird and eggs out, stamped in the same colors.
