Stampin’ Up! Beach Happy Thanks Card

The Beach Happy Stamp Set caught my eye in the Occasions Catalog right from the start.
Specifically, the example card they made on page 37.

I finally got a chance to CASE (copy and selectively edit) it.
I’m sad to say the Beach Happy Stamp Set will be retired after the Occasions Catalog.

My card starts off with Coastal Cabana cardstock.  I then matted a panel of Soft Suede cardstock on Whisper White cardstock.

I then cut out a panel of Watercolor Paper using the Rectangle Stitched Dies.  I did a watercolor background using an Aqua Painter and Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Crumb Cake, and Soft Suede ink.

Once the watercolor paper was dry, I stamped the palm tree trunk in Soft Suede ink.  I stamped the palm leaves in Versamark ink, sprinkled it with Gold Embossing Powder, and heat set it.

I stamped the sentiment in Coastal Cabana ink on Whisper White cardstock, adhered a piece of Burlap Ribbon underneath it which I roughed up a bit, and added a Tropical Element next to it.

Enjoy!

Stampin’ Up! Baby Moon

I’ve been creating mostly Autumn and Christmas cards lately.

I thought I would take a break today.

I have a few friends expecting so I thought it was time to make a baby card.

My card today starts off with Thick Whisper White cardstock.  I took the cloud sheet from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks and spread embossing paste over it.  I took a banner of Blushing Bride cardstock and using the same cloud mask sponged Craft White ink over it.

I stamped the baby from the Moon Baby stamp set in Archival Black ink on Shimmery White cardstock.  I colored her in using a Blender pen and Blushing Bride and Daffodil Delight (umbrella) ink.  I actually used the new Ivory Stampin Blend marker to color in her face and the Light Crumb Cake marker for her hair.  I then fussy cut her out.

I stamped the sentiment in Blushing Bride ink on a panel of Whisper White cardstock and stamped the stars around it, stamping off for a lighter shade.  I matted this on Blushing Bride cardstock and adhered the baby over it.

Enjoy!

Today’s card was inspired by this weeks The Paper Players challenge.

Watercolor Thank You Card

The other day I was feeling like I wanted to try something different.  And I didn’t necessarily have a plan.

I just knew how I wanted it to end up looking.

So I’m sure there’s a different, maybe even easier way, to get this look, but I’ll sort of walk you through how I did it.

I started with Night of Navy cardstock which I layered with Island Indigo and then some Watercolor Paper.

watercolor-stamp-it-up-with-jaimie

Now for the watercoloring:  I inked up the “swirl” from the Sealed with Love Stamp Set and stamped it (from the top) in Island Indigo, Dapper Denim, and Night of Navy.  They didn’t really stamp “strong” (maybe because watercolor paper is so thick) so I stamped each color twice.

I then took my Aquapainter, squeezed it to hard to get the tip wet, and sort of flicked the end to get the water to splatter.  I did this a lot.  Once the paper was really wet I sort of blew air on the puddles of water to get them to stream across the paper.

The Island Indigo and Dapper Denim must not have had as much ink on them as they didn’t stream as much.  (Now, at this point if I had re-inkers I would’ve just used them, but alas, I don’t.)  So what I did was brush the Aquapainter across the top of the ink pad a few times and then squeezed it to get a pool of water at the tip.  I then touched the paper to get the ink to drip out and again blew air on it to make it flow.

Like I said, there’s probably a much easier way to go about getting this effect.  Feel free to comment below and share!

Now after working hard to get my watercolor effect I didn’t want to just cover it up, so I chose a thin sentiment.  I used the Banners for You Bundle for my sentiment.  I stamped the Thank You in Versamark and sprinkled it with White Embossing Powder and heat embossed it.

I’ve used this bundle a few times but have yet to use the banner framelit.  I thought this banner was cool because it leaves a negative banner.

So I cut out a Dapper Denim negative and Watercolor Paper negative which I offset from one another and adhered the sentiment using Dimensionals.

Enjoy!

PRODUCT LIST:

Wetlands Watercolor

For today’s card, it’s all about the watercolor (thank you Paper Players) .

I have to say watercolor doesn’t come natural to me – I tend to overthink things.  But, you know, every now and then you just have to go for it!

pp304

I thought, what better stamp set for watercoloring than the Wetlands stamp set!

So I started with some Marina Mist as my base color.  Before beginning my watercolor, I stamped some tall grass on the bottom of the Marina Mist.  I then layered Whisper White with Crumb Cake with some Watercolor Paper (which was later adhered with dimensionals).

Wetlands - Stamp It Up With JaimieNext, I moved on to watercoloring.  I first taped down the watercolor paper with some Washi Tape to create a border that wouldn’t get painted.  (Washi Tape works great to do this because it cleanly can be removed without ruining the paper underneath.)

Wetlands - Stamp It Up With Jaimie - Stampin Up

Now on to the watercoloring – I used an aquapainter and colors Sahara Sand to create the beach, Island Indigo for the water, and the faint Pool Party for the sky.  I stamped the birds in Archival Basic Black (which is oil based so not bothered by all the water).

Finally, I added the birthday sentiment which is included in the Wetlands Stamp Set in Archival Basic Black.

Enjoy!

PRODUCT LIST:

Just For You – Watercoloring

I have wanted to try this technique for a while now and finally got to play around with it yesterday.  Isn’t this a really cool effect?

I started off with a background of Rich Razzleberry and then layered it with watercolor paper.  To get the effect of the sentiment, Just For You, from the Botanicals For You Sale-a-bration stamp set, you heat emboss it in white first.  That way when you watercolor over it, the embossing resists the ink.

Just For You - Stamp It Up With Jaimie - Stampin Up

Then I took Rich Razzleberry, Island Indigo, and Old Olive and watercolored over the sentiment and paper.  Lastly, I used the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set in Rich Razzleberry (stamped off first) to add some dots.

I finished it off with a few Old Olive sequins and Baker’s Twine.

Enjoy!
