My 10-year-old had a birthday party to attend this weekend and needed a birthday card.
And unfortunately she had a hard time finding one for her friend as all mine were either too serious or too mature, so I decided to make a fun, bright birthday card!
My card today starts off with Bermuda Bay cardstock. I took a panel of Watercolor Paper and dry embossed it using the Perfect Polka Dot embossing folder.
The other day I saw a card that had watercoloring on it using Bermuda Bay and I fell in love with it. When watercolored, Bermuda Bay is much brighter and I loved the look!
I took an aquapainter and watercolored over the polka dots in Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, Rich Razzleberry ink (which I started using but didn’t get the look I wanted, so I mixed it with Perfect Plum). I went over each circle a few times until I got the color I wanted. The bottom row of purple I left with just one coat of Rich Razzleberry to give it a lighter shade.
Using the sentiment from the Balloon Adventures stamp set, I stamped in Versamark the sentiment on Melon Mambo cardstock and heat embossed it using White Embossing Powder. Before adhering it, I wound behind it some Bermuda Bay Thick Baker’s Twine.
This was such a fun card to make! Enjoy!
Today’s card was inspired by the challenge at TGIF this week:

What a cool card! Love the watercoloring on your polka dots. Great design! I’m sure that your daughter and her friend both loved it! 🙂
Fun card, Jaimie! Perfect for a kid’s birthday – not too serious, not too mature! Nice! 🙂
Very cute, love the water coloring on the polka dots!
And how did your child and the one who “got” the card like it? That’s the real test. I do like your card. With the catalog coming out you’ll be able to do more Polka dots! Fun huh? LOL! What we do for our kids. My daughter came home from school one day and to have a blue wrap around skirt for a choir performance the next day. Was up all night! Be thankful your child only ask for a card! LOL!
This is pretty much gorgeous! I love how you have watercoloured the polka dots here! Great work! Thank you so much for sharing with us this week over at TGIF Challenges! đź’–
