Stampin’ Up! Bird Banter Card

Hello my name is Jaimie and I am such a sucker for a cute sentiment.

Honestly, because of this, it was only a matter of time before I bought the Bird Banter Stamp Set.

I started my card with Pool Party cardstock.  I then cut out a pattern from the Bubbles & Fizz DSP to adhere over the card front.  Next I took a smaller panel of Pool Party cardstock and stamped across the front of it the flower image from the Bird Banter Stamp Set in Memento Ink.  I matted this on Whisper White cardstock.

Next I stamped the branch and bird image from th Bird Banter Stamp Set in Memento Black ink on a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I colored them in using Bermuda Bay, Pool Party, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, and Calypso Coral Stampin Blend Markers.  I cut this out using the Stitched Shapes Framelits.

I wound around the inner piece of cardstock some Pool Party Baker’s Twine in a bow.  Then I stamped the sentiment on a small panel of Whisper White cardstock in Memento Black ink and adhered it using Stampin Dimensionals.

Enjoy!

Today’s card was inspired by this week’s Global Design Project sketch challenge.

Stampin’ Up! We Must Celebrate Birthday

I’m pretty excited about today’s card – mostly because it’s my first post in about a week and a half!

Feels good to be back!

What I love about this card is it’s just stamps, paper, and the watercolor pencils.

I start off with Pool Party cardstock.  I then took a panel of Shimmery White cardstock and stamped the animals and confetti from the We Must Celebrate Stamp Set in Archival Black ink on it.  I then colored them in using the Watercolor Pencils and matted it on Bermuda Bay cardstock.

I stamped the sentiment from the We Must Celebrate Stamp Set on a piece of Pool Party cardstock and adhered it on the card.

Enjoy!

I’m Back!

I got back late Saturday after a week long mission’s trip to Guatemala with my church.

I’m still processing the trip as it has really marked my life.  My husband and I lived there for about 3 years as newlyweds, but I haven’t been back in about 15 years!

Needless to say I’ve fallen in love with the country and the people all over again.

Tomorrow I’ll back by with cards, but for today I’d like to share a little bit of what I was up to.

Guatemala is a beautiful country, with poverty according to our standards and yet so rich in ways that as Americans we could only hope to understand.

In San Jose Pinula, where we worked, the kids are mostly poor, wearing tattered clothes  and shoes that have clearly been passed down one too many times, and yet there’s a joy and peace about them.  They smile, sometimes revealing missing teeth or cavity filled mouths, and the kids just want to be loved on.

We went to work with Cross Culture Jesus Ministries and let me tell you they are doing an incredible work down there.  They offer feeding centers, where many times it’s the only meal a child will receive for the day, as well as Bible teaching and help with school work.

They receive a healthy, well-balanced lunch, food for the body, which is followed by a Biblical teaching, food for the soul.

Over the course of the week we went to a number of different schools where we had a special presentation prepared for the kids.  The picture below was taken at a remote school up in the mountains where the principal said the kids had been waiting for weeks for us to come.

I speak Spanish so I was able to converse with the children and translate for the team which is always fun!

We set aside time each day to do family visits, where we gave a bag of provisions of food for reach family, as well as a special soccer ball which had a gospel message on it.

Families eagerly welcomed us into their home and I couldn’t help but think how as Americans we aren’t so eager to do the same.  The hospitality the Guatemalans show is an example to us all!

On Wednesday we held a special event for mothers, youth, and children for Valentine’s Day.  The mothers were able to relax, eat lunch, make a craft, and receive a special message just for them.  Over 50 women came along with their kids.

We finished off our trip with a day off in Antigua, the original capital of Latin America before it was divided up.  Surrounded by a volcano, the city is marked by buildings built in the 1500s made for generals and countesses.

Thanks for checking out some photos from my trip.  It was nothing short of amazing!

I’ll be back with a card for tomorrow, but for now – Chao!

Out 2/10-2/17

Hello my friends!

Just wanted to let you know that I’ll be out of the country 2/10 through 2/17.

So all my usuals – blogging, Wednesday Facebook Live Tutorial, newsletter, etc. will all be put on hold until I come back.

I’ll be in Guatemala on a mission’s trip with my church.  This trip is even more special because my husband and I lived there for about 3 years when we were newlyweds.

Want to see a blast from my past?

Here are a few pictures from 17+ years ago when we lived and worked in Guatemala…

Needless to say time has passed and we’re both older and now have 3 littles of our own.

So this trip holds a very special place in my heart and I look forward to sharing pictures with you when I return.

My store is always open for you to place orders.  Please use the current host code when checking out.

And I’ll see you when I get back 🙂

Stampin’ Up! Weather Together

This week’s Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop is a color challenge.  Happy hopping!

I pulled out the Weather Together Stamp Set for today.  It’s a great set and I haven’t used it in ages.  It has great sentiments in it to show love to someone going through a hard time or even say thanks, like I’ve done today.

I used the Bermuda Bay as the base to my card today which I then embossed using the Polka Dot Basics embossing folder.

Next I cut out the top of the umbrella and the handle in Peekaboo Peach and Lemon Lime Twist cardstock using the Umbrella Weather Framelits.  I stamped the lined top of the umbrella from the Weather Together Stamp Set, one in Lemon Lime Twist and the other in Peekaboo Peach ink on a piece of vellum and cut it out.  I adhered them over one another and then to the card front.

I tied around some Peekaboo Peach Baker’s Twine into a bow and then stamped the sentiment in Bermuda Bay ink and adhered it to the card front.

Enjoy!

Today’s card was inspired by the challenge this week at Fusion Card Challenge.

Stampin’ Up! Petal Palette Card

Wednesdays are such a fun day for me.

I have an in-house Stamp Party tomorrow so I’m finalizing things for that…

I send my newsletter out on Wednesdays and there are some fun and important updates in today’s.  If you’d like to receive it, head over here.  I send it out weekly with important updates, offers, news and projects….

And later on tonight I have my Facebook Live Tutorial at 7:30 pm EST and I am really excited about the card.  Watch live and leave a comment of any kind and I’ll draw a name at the end for someone to receive tonight’s card.

To check out past tutorials head over to my YouTube channel.

On to today’s cards…

I created two cards using the same product but with just a few variations.

My card starts off with Berry Burst cardstock.  I then took a small panel of Soft Sky cardstock and embossed it using the Petal Pair Embossing Folder and matted it on Whisper White cardstock.  This folder is really cool because there are two folders in the set, the one I used and then another flowery one.

I stamped the flower image from the Petal Palette Stamp Set in Berry Burst ink on a nearly square Whisper White cardstock.  I matted this on Soft Sky cardstock and wrapped around some Berry Burst ribbon in a bow before adhering it to the card.

I stamped the sentiment from the Petal Palette Stamp Set in Berry Burst ink, cut the end as a banner, and adhered it to the card.  Lastly, I added a few rhinestones around the flower.

For my second variation, I kept things a bit more simple.

But I really believe there’s beauty in simplicity.

Enjoy!

Stampin’ Up! Heartfelt Blooms

When it comes to sympathy cards, I like to keep my cards simple and (almost always) monochromatic.

The Heartfelt Blooms Stamp Set from the Sale-a-bration catalog is perfect for such a card.

I start out with Rich Razzleberry cardstock for my card base.  I then adhered on the front a pattern from the Tutti-Frutti DSP.

Next I stamped the flower image from the Heartfelt Blossoms Stamp Set in Rich Razzleberry ink on a piece of Whisper White cardstock which I mounted on some Rich Razzleberry cardstock.  Before adhering it to the card front, I snuck a piece of a Delicate Doily underneath it.

I stamped the sentiment in Rich Razzleberry ink from the Heartfelt Blossoms Stamp Set on Whisper White cardstock and cut it out using a framelit from the Petals & More Thinlits.  I adhered this using Stampin Dimensionals.

Enjoy!

My card was inspired by the sketch challenge at MFT Card Challenges this week.

Stampin’ Up! We Must Celebrate Baby Card

Punches…

I feel like sometimes they don’t get the love they deserve.  They may not be able to cut out the intricate dies like the Big Shot can, but a punch is so simple to use and can in an instant cut something out.

I pulled out not 1, not 2, but 3 punches for today’s card.

Mr. Bunny makes this card so cute and perfect for a new baby.  He comes from the We Must Celebrate Stamp Set.

This card was my featured Facebook Live Tutorial this past Wednesday night.  Swing by and join me at 7:30 pm EST as I give a live tutorial on a different card each week.  If you watch live and leave a comment, I’ll draw a name at the end for someone to receive that night’s card!

Stampin’ Up! Gold Vinyl Stickers Valentines’ Day Card

This week’s Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop is a sketch challenge.  Happy hopping!

Glitter…glitter…glitter

If you love glitz, today’s card is for you!

Also, there is no stamping – None, zilch – crazy, right?!

My card starts off with Thick Whisper White cardstock.  I then took a small panel of Whisper White cardstock and adhered a few Painted Love Gold Vinyl Stickers on it – Yes, the sentiments and hearts are stickers!

These stickers are great and there are a ton on each sheet!

I took the “love” panel and put it over another panel of Whisper White where it would go, marking it with a pencil.  (No sense in putting glitter in the spot that was going to be covered.)  I then used liquid glue to adhere a ton of Gold Glitter Flakes.

How I did the glitter flakes was I put some liquid glue on a scrap piece of paper.  I took another piece of scrap cardstock and picked up glue on the edge of it.  Then I lined up the edge with the glue to the line I drew previously and sort of wiped away from the line.  I then sprinkled it with the Gold Flakes.  I dabbed glue towards the top and bottom of the card to put smaller amounts of Gold Flakes.

I matted this Whisper White on a slightly larger Whisper White and adhered it to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Enjoy!
