Stampin’ Up! Tropical Chic Thank You Card

When in doubt, take inspiration from the catalog itself!

Today’s card was inspired by a card on page 120 of the Annual Catalog.  I especially loved the dotted paper behind the leaves.

My card starts off with Soft Sea Foam cardstock.  I then too a pattern from the Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper.

I then cut out the “box of leaves” using the Tropical Thinlits Dies and adhered it over another pattern from the Tropical Escape DSP using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Next I stamped the sentiment in Shaded Spruce Ink on Whisper White cardstock.

I then used the Tropical Chic Bundle (stamp set and matching thinlits) to stamp and/or cut out leaves using Shaded Spruce ink and cardstock and Blushing Bride ink.  I added a Tropical Element embellishment and I tied a Linen Thread bow through it.

Enjoy!

Stampin’ Up! Animal Outing Big Thanks

“Fussy cutting”

It’s a term to describe having to meticulously cut out an image with scissors.

Nowadays we’re spoiled because we have the Big Shot and thinlits and framelits that cut out the images perfectly for us.  But every now and then, you have to go old school and fussy cut.

My card today put my fussy cutting skills to the test.

The new Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper is so fun and really lends itself to creating a fun card with virtually no stamping.

My card today starts off with Call Me Clover cardstock.  I then took a pattern from the Animal Expedition DSP and adhered it down the middle of the card.  Next I took a panel of Whisper White cardstock and matted it on Gray Granite cardstock.

I stamped the sentiment from the Animal Outing Stamp Set in Versamark Ink on a panel of Berry Burst cardstock.  I sprinkled it with White Embossing Powder and heat set it.

I then cut Mr. Rhino out using the coordinating rhino framelit from the Animal Friends Framelits, but the other images of the branches and birds I fussy cut out and arranged the images on the card front.

Enjoy!

Stampin’ Up! Colorful Seasons – SIP Challenge 155

There’s nothing like new Designer Series Paper to inspire you.

Someone recently asked me how do you decide what colors to use for a card.
Well, many times I pick colors that Stampin’ Up! has put together in Designer Series Paper.

The great thing is Stampin Up marks right on the bag of the packet of paper what colors are in it/coordinate with it.

For today’s card I was inspired by the Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper and in particular the one pattern in the upper right hand corner.

My card starts off with Mango Melody cardstock.  I then matted a piece of Whisper White cardstock on Melon Mambo cardstock.

I used the Seasonal Layers Thinlits to cut out a bunch of flowers to cascade down the card.  I used all the pinks and oranges from the Garden Impressions DSP:  Melon Mambo, Calypso Coral, Petal Pink, Powder Pink, So Saffron, and Mango Melody.

I cut out a circle using the Layering Circles Framelits from Melon Mambo cardstock.  The DSP also had a hint of Soft Sea Foam, so I used that cardstock to cut out an Adirondack chair.

Lastly I stamped the sentiment from the Colorful Seasons stamp set in Mango Melody.

Enjoy!

My card was inspired by this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper challenge.  I chose my design for this challenge because summers always mean hikes in nearby mountains which happen to be the Adirondack Mountains – it’s where the type of chair in the die cut got its name – “Adirondack chair.”  I also love all the bright, vibrant colors in the flowers in summer.

Stampin’ Up! Tropical Chic Card

This week’s Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop is a color challenge.  Happy hopping!

My card starts off with Granny Apple Green cardstock.  Next I mounted some Whisper White cardstock on a panel of Shaded Spruce cardstock.  I then cut a pattern from the Tropical Escape DSP on an angle to adhere to the card.

I used the new Tropical Chic Bundle (stamp set & matching framelits saves you 10%) for the cluster of tropical leaves.  I used Shaded Spruce, Granny Apple Green, and Blushing Bride ink and cardstock.

I stamped the sentiment from the Tropical Chic Stamp Set in Blushing Bride ink and tied a bow through one of the Tropical Elements to adhere to the corner of it.

Enjoy!

My card was inspired by this week’s Global Design Project challenge.

Stampin’ Up! Waterfront Thank You

I love versatility.

Sometimes I get stamp sets just because I like them and I think they’re fun, but many times when I look at a stamp set I try to think about how many different ways I can use it.

The Waterfront Stamp Set is carrying over from the Occasions Catalog and I think it is so versatile – from the beach to the mountains, for sympathy cards or for masculine ones, and then the big one – scrapbooking.

In the Annual Catalog, Stampin’ Up! has put together some bundles with coordinating product.  This is brilliant!!!  If you’re just starting out and not sure where to begin or if you find all the product overwhelming – these bundles are for you!!!

And there happens to be a bundle with this Waterfront Stamp Set.  You can check it out here.

My card today starts off with Bermuda Bay cardstock.  I stamped the dots from the Waterfront Stamp Set in Bermuda Bay ink along the sides.

Next I took a panel of Whisper White cardstock.  I created my scene using the Waterfront Stamp Set and Crumb Cake (mountains), Bermuda Bay (water), Pineapple Punch (sun), and Early Espresso (house) inks.

Using the Layering Circles Framelits, I cut out a circle from the middle of it.  I matted the cardstock on a panel of Pineapple Punch cardstock and wound around a Linen Thread bow.  I adhered it to the card and then stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso ink.

I adhered the cut out circle using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Enjoy!

Stampin’ Up! Rooted in Nature Thank You

This week’s Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop is a sketch challenge.  Happy hopping!

Today’s card uses a fun technique using the Stamparatus.  I’ve seen it done a few times and wanted to try it out for myself.

My card starts off with Rich Razzleberry cardstock.  Next I adhered a pattern from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper.

Next I took a panel of Whisper White cardstock and lined it up on the Stamparatus.  I inked up the trunk from the Rooted in Nature Stamp Set in Soft Suede ink and the top in Pumpkin Pie ink and pressed it on the paper.  Then I took a dauber and added hints of Rich Razzleberry to the top of the tree and pressed it down.  Lastly, I used a dauber and added hints of Real Red to the tree and Early Espresso to the trunk and pressed it down.  The result is so pretty!

I matted the Whisper White first on Real Red and then using dimensionals on Pumpkin Pie cardstock.

I wrapped around some Rich Razzleberry twine from the Nature’s Twine pack in a bow.  I stamped the sentiment from the Rooted in Nature Stamp Set (using the Washi Tape technique) in Versamark ink.  I sprinkled it with white embossing powder and heat set it.

Enjoy!

Stampin’ Up! Daisy Delight Thank You

This week’s Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop is a color challenge.  Happy hopping!

My card today starts off with Crumb Cake cardstock.

Next I took a panel of Night of Navy cardstock and stamped daisies on it in Night of Navy ink.  I mounted it on Whisper White cardstock and adhered it to the card.

Next I took a pattern from the Delightfully Daisy DSP and matted it on Whisper White cardstock.

I saw another demo do this and if you know who, please let me know, as I cannot for the life of me remember where I saw it.  I took the smallest circle framelit from the Layering Circles Framelits and cut out two notches from the paper.  I wound around a Mint Macaron Twine Bow (available June 1st).

I stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy on Whisper White cardstock.

Lastly, I stamped the daisy image twice in Versamark ink on Night of Navy cardstock.  I sprinkled it with white embossing powder and heat set it with a heat tool.  I cut it out using the Daisy Punch.  I added a silver embellishment to the center of it.
