Penned & Painted – FMS282

Today’s card was inspired by the challenge this week at Freshly Made Sketches.  I do have to admit, though, that I just noticed where the sentiment was supposed to be placed – oops.

I wanted to do the spotlight technique on my card today.  I was so focused that I totally forgot to “spotlight” and do the cut outs the first time around.  However, I liked how it looked so much, that I decided to show it anyway.

Card #1 uses Mint Macaron cardstock as its base.  I used the Penned & Painted stamp set to stamp the outlined image of three flowers and three leaves on Whisper White which I matted on Marina Mist cardstock.

Next I stamped the solid flower image (stamping off first) in Watermelon Wonder, Mint Macaron, and Marina Mist ink.  I added the sentiment from the Better Together stamp set in Marina Mist ink.

Card #2 uses Marina Mist cardstock as its base.  I again stamped the outline flower image three times on Whisper White cardstock.  This time before coloring them in I used the Layering Squares Framelits and cut out three squares.  I stamped the solid flower image in the same three colors (Watermelon Wonder, Mint Macaron, and Marina Mist) on the squares that were cut out.  I matted them on the scalloped squares that coordinated with the color of the flowers and adhered them in the correct spot.

I added the sentiment, this time in Mint Macaron ink, and matted the Whisper White cardstock on Mint Macaron cardstock.
