This week’s Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop is a sketch challenge. Happy hopping!
This week’s card starts off with Garden Green cardstock. I took a pattern from the Christmas Around the World DSP and matted it on Basic Black cardstock and adhered a panel of Gold Foil cardstock behind it.
I used the Layering Circles Framelits and cut out two circles from the Gold Foil cardstock. I then added some texture around the edge of them by placing the cardstock face down on my cutting pad (which is well loved and has lots of texture on it). Over the Gold Foil circle I placed a slightly larger circle framelit but with the cutting “lip” faced up away from the paper. This way the edge of the circle was making an impression on the paper and the texture from the cutting pad was making an embossed look on the gold foil.
I cut out a scene from the Hometown Greetings framelits from Basic Black cardstock and measured them across each of the ornaments and trimmed them down.
I wrapped around some Gold Thread a bunch of times and then adhered it from the top of the DSP down to wear the ornaments would hang. I used the Pretty Pines thinlits to cut out some boughs from Garden Green cardstock and a bow from Real Red cardstock to decorate the one ornament.
I stamped the sentiment from the Christmas Pines stamp set in Memento Black ink on Real Red cardstock and cut it out using the Cupcake Cutouts framelits.
Enjoy!

What a novel idea for the ornaments, Jaimie. They are fantastic. I love this card with its bold colors and gold accents, beautiful!
I love it! Your little ornaments are just perfect, great sentiment too! Fantastic colors and fantastic card. 🙂
Oh – this is super! What a fun idea to make ornaments and “hang” them with the metallic thread. So festive! 🙂
totally adorable card.
Great use of the ornament idea, without using ornament dies. Very creative also to use the cut plate to emboss! Lovely card, Jaimie.
Love that plaid paper with the gold, you know me and bling! Your ornaments are beautiful, Wonderful card Jaimie.
I’ve unintentionally made textures with my cutting plates but your intentional use looks sooo much better and is a wonderful idea! Love your creativity! Beautiful card.
What a vintage feel to this card. Love how you made the ornaments. Great job.
