For today’s card, it’s all about the watercolor (thank you Paper Players) .
I have to say watercolor doesn’t come natural to me – I tend to overthink things. But, you know, every now and then you just have to go for it!

I thought, what better stamp set for watercoloring than the Wetlands stamp set!
So I started with some Marina Mist as my base color. Before beginning my watercolor, I stamped some tall grass on the bottom of the Marina Mist. I then layered Whisper White with Crumb Cake with some Watercolor Paper (which was later adhered with dimensionals).
Next, I moved on to watercoloring. I first taped down the watercolor paper with some Washi Tape to create a border that wouldn’t get painted. (Washi Tape works great to do this because it cleanly can be removed without ruining the paper underneath.)

Now on to the watercoloring – I used an aquapainter and colors Sahara Sand to create the beach, Island Indigo for the water, and the faint Pool Party for the sky. I stamped the birds in Archival Basic Black (which is oil based so not bothered by all the water).
Finally, I added the birthday sentiment which is included in the Wetlands Stamp Set in Archival Basic Black.
Enjoy!
