The other day I was feeling like I wanted to try something different. And I didn’t necessarily have a plan.
I just knew how I wanted it to end up looking.
So I’m sure there’s a different, maybe even easier way, to get this look, but I’ll sort of walk you through how I did it.
I started with Night of Navy cardstock which I layered with Island Indigo and then some Watercolor Paper.
Now for the watercoloring: I inked up the “swirl” from the Sealed with Love Stamp Set and stamped it (from the top) in Island Indigo, Dapper Denim, and Night of Navy. They didn’t really stamp “strong” (maybe because watercolor paper is so thick) so I stamped each color twice.
I then took my Aquapainter, squeezed it to hard to get the tip wet, and sort of flicked the end to get the water to splatter. I did this a lot. Once the paper was really wet I sort of blew air on the puddles of water to get them to stream across the paper.
The Island Indigo and Dapper Denim must not have had as much ink on them as they didn’t stream as much. (Now, at this point if I had re-inkers I would’ve just used them, but alas, I don’t.) So what I did was brush the Aquapainter across the top of the ink pad a few times and then squeezed it to get a pool of water at the tip. I then touched the paper to get the ink to drip out and again blew air on it to make it flow.
Like I said, there’s probably a much easier way to go about getting this effect. Feel free to comment below and share!
Now after working hard to get my watercolor effect I didn’t want to just cover it up, so I chose a thin sentiment. I used the Banners for You Bundle for my sentiment. I stamped the Thank You in Versamark and sprinkled it with White Embossing Powder and heat embossed it.
I’ve used this bundle a few times but have yet to use the banner framelit. I thought this banner was cool because it leaves a negative banner.
So I cut out a Dapper Denim negative and Watercolor Paper negative which I offset from one another and adhered the sentiment using Dimensionals.
Enjoy!
